YAO Chung-Han 姚仲涵

Creation is part of YAO Chung-Han's life, from the seemingly broken fluorescent lamps to the vibrant light; from the deconstructed sound art to the structured music production; from the framed works to the reflection on spatial scale. Regardless of how the form of his works transforms, the constant is the pursuit of his own creative possibilities.

YAO began his sound art practice in 2005. His representative works include the fluorescent light installation SCATTERED COORDINATES and the An Electronic Monster series started in 2017. His creative identities are diverse — besides being an artist, he is also a sound creator, DJ, and Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Architecture at Shih Chien University.

YAO has won the First Prize in Sound Art at Digital Art Festival Taipei (2008), Honourable Mention at Taipei Art Awards (2017), and has been invited to participate in numerous international exhibitions and performances. In 2017, he founded Loudly Lightning Studio, which received the Honourable Mention at ADA Awards for Emerging Architects (2022) and the Best Design Award at London Design Biennale with Chance Design (2023). He served as Artistic Director of the Main Lantern "Alishan, Veiled in Luminous Mist" at Taiwan Lantern Festival (2026).
